Do I need to take my vehicle back to the main dealer for servicing whist in manufacturer’s warranty?

This is a question we as a company get asked more and more. A lot of people are under the impression that when a vehicle is under manufacturers warranty that they have to take their vehicle back to the main dealer (i.e Audi, Volkswagen, Seat or Skoda)

The fact is you do not.

Prior to 2003, automobile owners in the EU region risked nullifying their vehicle warranties
when the vehicles were serviced or repaired in workshops not belonging to the vehicle
manufacturer or its dealers. This barrier was broken in October 2003, when the European
Commission (EC) passed the Block Exemption Regulation law allowing vehicle owners
the freedom of having their servicing and repairs done at their chosen workshop.
On 1st June 2010 European Union legislation, ‘Block Exemption Regulations 461/2010
came into force. This BER certainly gives the motorist far more freedom in deciding
who will repair or service their vehicles, as well as the flexibility and benefit to reduce
the amount spent on servicing

LVS ONLY fit genuine O.E filters to keep your vehicles warranty. The only thing LVS cannot do is carry out any warranty work. this unfortunately has to be done by the main dealer.

Are you a dealer?

Short answer is NO we are not the main dealer however, LVS are an independent specialist for Audi, Volkswagen, Seat and Skoda. LVS can carry out any service work, Diagnostics, MOT work etc. The ONLY thing we cannot do is warranty work if the vehicle is under 3 years old.

LVS Parts and Labour Warranty

LVS T&Cs updated 01/01/25

LVS AG Ltd offers a 2-year Parts & Labour Warranty on work carried out at our workshop. However, certain items and circumstances are subject to specific exclusions and reduced warranty periods.

Clutch Replacements

Clutch replacements are covered for 1 year or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first, due to clutches being a wear-and-tear item.

Tyres

Tyres are a wear-and-tear item and therefore are not covered by any LVS warranty.

Brakes

Brakes are classed as a wear-and-tear item. However, LVS offers a 6-month or 6,000-mile warranty, whichever comes first, on both genuine and aftermarket brake parts.

Road Springs

Due to road springs being moving components and the increasingly poor condition of UK roads, LVS can only offer a 6-month warranty on road springs.

Unfortunately, potholes and poor road surfaces are becoming increasingly common and can be a contributing factor to road spring failure.

Performance Clutches

LVS does not offer any warranty on performance clutches fitted by ourselves, as these are deemed to be a performance upgrade.

Genuine OE Parts

Any genuine OE part supplied and fitted by LVS AG Ltd is covered by a 2-year Parts Warranty.

Please note that genuine OE parts are covered through the relevant main dealer.

If a genuine part supplied and fitted by LVS fails within the 2-year warranty period:

  1. LVS will first inspect and confirm that the part is deemed to be faulty.
  2. If the part is confirmed as faulty, the vehicle will be required to attend your local main dealer (Audi, Volkswagen, SEAT or Škoda).
  3. You will need to take your LVS invoice as proof of purchase.
  4. The main dealer will then carry out the warranty repair in accordance with the manufacturer’s warranty procedure.

Please note: Brakes and suspension components are classed as wear-and-tear items and are therefore subject to the 6-month LVS warranty.

Non-Genuine / Aftermarket Parts

Any non-genuine part supplied and fitted by LVS AG Ltd will be covered by a 2-year warranty and, where applicable, LVS will carry out the warranty repair ourselves.

Modified Vehicles – IMPORTANT

LVS AG Ltd will NOT honour any parts warranty if the vehicle has been modified in any way from the original specification in which it was manufactured.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Remaps or performance software
  • Tuning boxes
  • Performance exhaust systems
  • Performance air intakes
  • Performance intercoolers
  • Upgraded or modified braking systems
  • Other performance hardware or modifications

By having work carried out by LVS AG Ltd, you acknowledge and accept the warranty terms and exclusions outlined above.

Will LVS Fit A Supplied Part

Dash Cameras

Any vehicle which enters our workshop here at LVS WILL have you`re dash camera disconnected. This  is  our ruling and is setup to protect our business mainly for 2 reasons.

1, Security for the business.

2, Most importantly respecting the privacy our our staff in our workplace.

THE CAMERA SHOULD BE RECONNECTED AFTER ANY WORK HAS BEEN CARRIED OUT AT LVS.

Will LVS Update My Digital Record?

The short answer is yes!

So what is a digital service record? From around 2016 most of the Volkswagen/Audi group vehicles ditched the traditional service book which everyone stored in the glovebox, instead they introduced a digital service record which is done online.

This was setup purely to get the customer to return to the dealership for servicing, some smaller garages may not be able to update your record digitally however LVS can.

Once you`re vehicle has been in our workshop, our service team will log into Erwin and manually update the record with exactly what work has been carried out.
